Barelands Estate

With a legacy dating back to the 1200s as an iron ore smelter and evolving into a working farm and private family estate, Barelands carries a unique and intriguing historical significance that will captivate you.

This picturesque estate features a stately manor dating back to the 1500s, offering a glimpse into centuries of history and tradition. At Barelands, we provide tailored simulated clay shooting days for discerning clients against our beautiful, well-preserved grounds.

Our commitment to sustainability is evident throughout the estate, making it a place of historical significance and a model of eco-friendly farming practices.

We prioritise a sustainable approach to production, focusing on free-range, healthy farming and the utilisation of locally sourced produce. Our offerings provide the excitement of the traditional shoot while alleviating the ethical concerns associated with conventional blood sports. Our eco-conscious shooting cartridges are also crafted with fibre wads to prevent ground pollution upon firing.

Investing In
A Greener Future

Our personal journey with Barelands began in early 2021.

We searched for a property to fulfil our dream of a tranquil countryside lifestyle away from the city's hustle and bustle. We then discovered this idyllic estate in the High Weald area of East Sussex, and it was love at first sight. This personal connection ensures you can trust us to provide an authentic countryside experience.

The farm boasts rolling pastures home to our pedigree cattle and sheep, ancient chestnut woods where our chickens and pigs range freely and safely, and a stunning trout lake attracting plentiful birdlife. Wild deer pass through our woodlands, and our vegetable gardens bear deliciously organic produce.

Barelands is a haven for diverse and sustainable livestock. Our five thriving bee colonies at Barelands produce pure, natural honey, contributing to the health of our local ecosystem.

Our Pedigree Sussex suckling herd of cattle flourishes on our lush pastureland, embodying the essence of sustainable farming. And where possible, provide the beef for the awe-inspiring dishes served on your shooting days.

Our free-ranging organic chickens roam freely, laying delicious, farm-fresh eggs that are an authentic taste of nature. We rear free-range, organic Norfolk Bronze turkeys, ensuring they are ready for wholesome, eco-friendly feasting.

Free Range Fowl

Our rare breed pigs enjoy the freedom of our expansive woodland, living as nature intended. Our flock of Cheviots and Dorset Horns graces the fields of Barelands, grazing peacefully and maintaining the balance of our pastoral landscape.
